Today the city of Texarkana, Texas announced private information on current and former city employees, including their spouses and children had been released inadvertently to the public.

In a press release, the city stated they responded to a public records request made concerning the Kress Building, that that request led to the breach of information. The city states,
This information includes confidential identifies of employees, their spouses, and dependents, such as name, date of birth, home address, social security number, civil service rank, salary data, and health insurance deductions.”
The city stated they regret the error of releasing the information, and the information has been contained. They are now working to implement new standards to prevent the same from happening again. However, the city continues,
...employees, retirees, and credit union members are urged to take extra steps to safeguard identifying details and financial data.”
The city closes the press release saying,
All information regarding this issue is reported in this release, and no further information will be made available.”
