Volunteers Make Last Ditch Effort to Save Home from Flooding Red River

Out on Miller County road 54, volunteers have come together in an effort to help Mark Hannibal and family save their homeplace in a last ditch effort to keep the rising Red River out of their home.

The family lives on an Oxbow of the river and when the waters rise the oxbow fills up and their homeplace becomes an island and with water already crossing the road leading to their property they are running out of time.

In 1990 the river rose to 34.3 feet at Fulton and almost got into the house. The most recent forecast is 33+ feet, which leaves a lot to worry about. So, the family and friends are taking extra precautions.

I went out and took a few pics...
