Water Getting Closer to Hannibal Home

photos by Jeff Easterling
With photos circulating on the web, and folks saying this could be even worse than the 1990 flood, I have been keeping up with the Hannibal family that lives out on the edge of Miller County on the Red River.

The Hannibal family called me on Friday when they were organizing to build a levee around the home place. Levee is in place and with forecasts, we are all hoping it is enough to keep the families long time home dry. Water is now rising, and crosses the road into the family's home on a piece of property that basically became an island 25 years ago in the flood of 1990. With water continuing to rise the way in and out is now by boat from the Miller County levee.

The Boll Weevil at Fulton is underwater and the river still rising. Crops lost, buildings flooded... folks have started a new community page on Facebook to share photos video and reports... Ragin' Red River 2015.
